Love is in the Air

And it’s making me a little sick.

Kidding, I am so goddam happy right now I don’t even know what to do with myself.
You see, on Friday afternoon two of my best friends announced their engagement. They are also the first from my close friends to enter into this huge life step. [This is already too much to handle!]

As, you can imagine we were all overjoyed. Like, way too much. So many hugs, screams, stories, glasses of champagne and loud cheers!

My favourite part of the evening was hearing Sean describe how it all played out, which I won’t share on here because it’s their story. Listening to him recall the sequence of events with such pride concreted every thought I’ve had about these two.

They’re the faux parents to our crazy little group, the couple we all idolise. They are far too smart for their own good, but they also never stop laughing, play fighting and searching for new adventures.

Being friends with these two over the last 8 years (almost 10 with Sean alone) has taught me so much about kindness. It’s a quality, that in my opinion, that is highly underrated. I could ramble on forever about this, but trust me when I say that you’ll never come across kinder hearts than those of Brooke and Sean.

The out-pouring on social media over the past few days has been insane, and I have already added to that, I guess I just wanted to say a little more. This blog has created a monster, I am no longer able to contain my emotions in 140 characters or less.

To my wonderful friends, I love you. I’ll stop gushing now, but GODDAM I AM SO HAPPY.

Much love to all! Life is good.
Hanbel.

It’s a Good Day to Have a Good Day

And what a run of good days it has been!

I feel like, on occasion, I gush about my boyfriend too much (and who wants to be that girl?!), but sometimes he just gets it so right.

A few months ago, I received a message from Ticketek with my ticket details to “Wicked”. Without telling me, Andrew had bought tickets to see my favourite stage show! Friday night was the night. I got to relive the magic, tear up during “Defying Gravity” and drink a very green and VERY sickly sweet cocktail.

Thank you again Andrew, you’re a gem! I think I’ll keep you.

The weekend festivities kicked on, with a very special engagement partylast night. My step cousin Matt, and my good friend Kate. It such fun celebrating with the family, and the happy couple were so damn happy. Don’t you just love that?

CHOCOLATE FONDU!

I couldn’t stop thinking about that scene in Vicar of Dibley. Also, I’m really sorry about the lack of snaps, I just have too much fun at parties!

Sunday’s hangover was pushed aside to accompany my mum at the Mother’s Day Classic, raising money for Breast Cancer Research. Perth put on a ripper of a day as we rode our bikes down to Langley park and joined the sea of pink in a casual 4km walk.

It has been the mother of all weekends (hehe!) and I have loved every minute.

To my amazing mumma: Happy Mother’s Day! I love you more than I could ever put into words. Your strength support and endless love are never taken for granted.

Andrew and I are off on a 9 day camping trip as of tomorrow, so bye for now!

I promise to have plenty of updates when I return, have a good week!

R & J

A few weeks ago (closer to a month, woops!) I was lucky enough to celebrate the engagement of a dear friend of mine… in BrisVegas!

Jill and I met in London on our individual European adventures, and as all holiday relationships go we fell for each other hard and fast. It’s been almost four years since we met, drank our body weights in cider and beer (that subsequently grew larger as the months past), went on trips to Denmark and France, laughed and, as corny as this will sound, made memories to last a lifetime.

While I headed home to Perth, Jill stayed in London for another year before returning to her hometown of Brisbane.
And lucky she did, because it was here she bumped into her future fiancé: Reuben.

Fast-forward a few years, and I sat on a plane on my way home after spending the weekend celebrating these two love birds. It was also around this time that I realised I left my camera with her, which is why this post is so horribly late. However, there is too much love in these photos, I couldn’t not share them with you.
